VIEW HealthBit CXXIX: Working out while working from home
As we all continue to work from home, some of us have undoubtedly found it easier than others to incorporate workouts into our daily routines. I can not emphasize enough the importance of staying active, especially at a time like this. Moving the body as we do when we exercise improves immune function, helps our mood and mental clarity, and helps burn any of the extra calories that may be sneaking into our diets.
Below I will outline five of the many resources available to you. Please let me know if you have any trouble accessing any of these.
- Check with any studios/gyms at which you currently have a membership. Many are offering classes via ZOOM and/or going live with classes on social media platforms
- Break out the equipment from the CORE FOUR exercise program- and any other equipment you may have lying around- and work on those CORE FOUR exercises, or the more advanced versions from CORE FOUR (and more)
- Youtube cardio/pilates videos like this one, and others like this yoga one, have been recorded recently by teachers looking to help from their homes during this challenging time
- Peloton has offered a 90 day FREE subscription to its app, which not only offers cycling videos, but running, walking, weight lifting, stretching, yoga, meditation and more
- Walking/running never goes out of style and gets you out of the house for fresh air and, if it’s a sunny day, an extra dose of Vitamin D. Mother Nature is always available for some exercise therapy!
