Chiropractic is a healing art dating back to 1895. The main goal of chiropractic care is to remove interference to the nervous system by manipulating bones that are out of place (aka subluxations). When these bony misalignments are putting pressure on the nerves, especially on the nerves that exit your spinal cord, many ill-outcomes can result. Depending on the nerves that are affected, the human body can be in pain, or experiencing allergies, or constipation- it all depends on which nerves are being affected. When we manipulate the bone back into place so that the nerves can fire optimally, the body can then go back to healing itself.
What I do differently in my office is to not only address the bony misalignments but also address the muscular imbalances that often go along with these misalignments. To that end I employ a myofascial release technique called the Graston Technique. There are six different stainless steel instruments with different shapes and sizes which are used to find and correct tightness and restrictions in muscles, tendons and fascia.
My other passion is treating children and pregnant women. I have advanced certification through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association. That work is very gentle but oh so beneficial. Children especially respond so easily to gently chiropractic care because their bodies have less interference than us adults.
