VIEW HealthBit V: Thoughts Become Things

I don’t know how many of you practice visualization, or are aware of the phrase “thoughts become things” but this is a well studied phenomenon that dates way, way back in time and was more recently brought to light by people like Rhonda Byrne in her book “The Secret.”

If the concept seems overwhelming, they say to start small. Visualize the parking space that you will pull into when you run an errand in town. Or imagine a check coming in the mail. Do it with feeling. Emotion is key. Pretend it’s in your hand. How the paper feels, the excitement running through you as you rip open the envelope. The more emotion the better! The other key element is feeling like it’s already happened. The theory goes, if it’s already happened in your mind and body, the universe has to deliver.

To help remind me of this concept, every morning I receive a little email from “the universe” that brings a smile to my face and helps keep me on track. Here is a recent example from a September email:

“Changing what you have, Alyssa, comes from changing who you are.

And changing who you are comes from changing what you think.

Which is why I made the latter so easy to do.”
